I am tremendously honored to serve as the principal of Glacier Park Elementary.
Before beginning this role, I had the chance to witness firsthand during the prior three years just how committed the entire staff is to ensuring that each and every one of our students grows both socially and academically. I am eager to continue working in collaboration with the staff and families of Glacier Park as we live out the mission of the Tahoma School District. I am confident that together, we will provide the tools and experiences every student needs to create an individual, viable and valued path to lifelong personal success.
I'm sure that you have many questions about the person you will entrust your children to every day, so let me tell you a little about myself. I began my career teaching 4th and 6th grade in the Kent School District more than 20 years ago, taught 4th grade at Rock Creek Elementary, and most recently worked as an instructional coach. I graduated from the University of Washington (Go Huskies) and hold a Masters in Teaching and Educational Leadership. I live in Maple Valley with my husband, Jerry, who is also an elementary school principal and our three children; Alyssa, Seth and Ethan. Our children are proud Tahoma students, so you can probably guess what we talk about at home!
According to Jon Gordon, “Titles mean nothing. The one with the servant's heart is the leader.” That is truly how I view the title of "principal," and I promise to serve Glacier Park with all my heart.
It is with great eagerness that I welcome our students and parents to Glacier Park. Let’s work quickly to build a positive relationship for the benefit of your children. I appreciate the trust you will be placing in me and will work to earn it each day.
Please call or email at any time.
Sincerely,
Shelly Gaston
